Spring - a season of contrast
Spring is a season of significant weather variations, ranging from frosty mornings to oppressive heat.
Much of the southeast is at the start of a significant burst of early spring heat, the likes of which hasn’t been seen for decades in some cities. While the hottest days are ahead for those in the southeast, it won’t be long before some start to wonder when the arrival of the “Southerly Buster will come to bring some relief and big contrasts in day-time temperatures.
Adelaide is forecast to exceed 30 degrees for the next 3 days with Monday the hottest, reaching 35. The change will move through on Tuesday morning but not before it reaches the low thirties. By contrast the top temperature for Wednesday is forecast to be just 20 degrees.
Next up is Melbourne. It will warm to the low thirties on both Monday and Tuesday before a change roars through during Tuesday evening. The change will bring rapid cooling, making it that much easier to get to sleep. Melbourne has one of the more impressive contrasts with tops of just 18 forecast for Wednesday, making it a 14 degree difference from the previous day.
Sydneysiders will have to wait an extra day with a strong southerly change due on Wednesday. The next couple of days will be the hottest for the coastal suburbs before sea breezes bring more moderate temperatures from Tuesday. However, those in western suburbs won’t have the same benefit from the sea breeze, with four mid-thirty degree days ahead. Comparing Wednesday’s top in the mid-thirties to Thursday’s in the low-twenties, there will be up to a 13 degree difference in the top temperatures for the western suburbs.
Once the change has moved through temperatures will start building once again but not before a couple of cooler days.
