Southern WA soaking

Southern WA soaking
More than a month's worth of rain has fallen in southern parts of Western Australia during the last 24 hours The deluge was produced by a trough and low pressure system moving across the region from west to east. Beaumont West received 50mm of rain during the 24 hours to 9am today, which is more than a month's worth of rain at this time of year. Nearby Esperance collected 46mm, which is more rain than the last seven weeks combined. Prior to this, Bremer Bay picked up 56mm during the 24 hours to 9am on Thursday and Salmon Gums had 40mm, its best rain in three months. Perth missed out on the heavy falls once again and has only seen 10mm so far this month. This is well below the long-term May average of 90mm. There is some hope for the parched capital city though. A stronger cold front that will reach the state's southwest on Sunday has the potential to cause more substantial rain in Perth.
