The cold front bringing the coldest temperatures of the year over South Australia is heading east.
By Saturday, rain will move into Victoria and New South Wales. Northwest Victoria, which has missed out of late, should see a much needed 10 to 15 mm. Five mm or more will extend over most of the western slopes and plains of New South Wales.
The Snowy Mountains will get a dump of snow from tomorrow afternoon onwards, with more than 20cm possible. Combined with the strong gales to buffet the region, blizzard conditions will ensue.
Snow is even expected about the Central and Northern Tablelands Saturday evening and Sunday, with the coldest day of the year forecast for many locations, including Orange, Armidale, Mudgee and Dubbo.
There will be generally less rain about the coast, but it will still become cold and windy late Saturday - Sydney is expecting just 16 on Sunday.
