Snow-vember in Southeast
Paddy Aicken

Forget November, its Snow-vember in southeastern Australia today as a low pressure system generates widespread rain, temperatures well below average and storm force winds.
Overnight temperatures up to eight below average were not uncommon in the Alps. Mt Buller dropped to a chilly minus one which was their coldest November night in two years, and also their coldest night in over a month.
Day time temperatures were not much warmer with Mt Hotham and Mt Buller both having their coldest November days in two years. Mt Hotham only reached minus two, thirteen degrees below the long term November average.
These cold temperatures meant that the rainfall produced by this low
fell primarily as snow. So far Mt Buller has received almost 20 centimetres of snow over the course of the last two days. Snow was not restricted to the resorts, with falls reported as low as 1000 metres in some online forums.
More snow is likely over the remaining weekend, with many locations currently predicted to receive up to 50centimetres. Unfortunately the snow is not likely to remain for long as warmer temperatures and continued rain will wash much of it away on Monday.
