Snow settles in upper Hunter

While the east coast has been getting soaked by rain during the last 24 hours, it has been a different story up on higher ground.

For the first time this season, snow has settled on the Barrington Tops, located in the Hunter district of New South Wales.

The overnight dusting kept local snow chasers up late as they used car headlights to capture winter's first snow on camera. As the sun rose this morning it revealed a picturesque wintry across the region.

There were also reports of light snow further south near Oberon and Shooters Hill, located on the Central Tablelands, during the last 24 hours.

The cold front responsible for the dusting in central New South Wales also brought about 10cm to the alps earlier in the week. This addition will help to keep some cover on the slopes for the long weekend ahead.
