Snow set to continue

James Luffman, Monday June 30, 2008 - 19:08 EST

Snowfalls are set to continue across Australia's Alpine resorts after a strong front brought up to 15 centimetres on Monday, according to weatherzone.com.au

A cold front sweeping across the Alps on Monday brought the best falls seen since May, leaving about 15 centimetres of fresh snow covering higher parts of Victorian resorts by evening.

A second burst of heavier snow showers is likely to cross the Alps with another front during Tuesday. By Wednesday afternoon the snow showers will ease off, contracting mostly to southern Victorian peaks on Thursday.

Cold air temperatures and low humidities will follow from Thursday until Sunday morning, providing excellent conditions for further snowmaking. Another front is likely to bring further snowfalls from Tuesday 7th until Friday 11th July.
