Snow in mountains, rain in Canberra

Sunday November 23, 2008 - 10:00 EDT

There has been heavy rainfall across the Canberra region in the last 24 hours, especially near the water catchment areas.

The cold front which is moving across the ACT was responsible for yesterday's top temperature of just 13 degrees Celsius - the coldest November day since 1996.

Light snow was reported down to 1,000 metres in the Snowy Mountains, including Jindabyne.

ACT weather bureau duty forecaster Ken Battye says gusty wind conditions and more rain are predicted this morning.
