Severe weather for the west
Sam Terry

The severe weather has continued across the country's west and south today as a strong front made its way into the Bight, triggering heavy showers and winds. There were also some snowfalls on the Sterling Ranges overnight.
A Severe Weather Warning has been current for southern parts of WA today, with locally destructive gusts forecast. Esperance had its strongest wind gust in one and a half years, reaching 98 km/h.
As the front moved further east the area of maximum gustiness has moved into western SA. Nullarbor received a 91 km/h gust, its highest in almost three years.
Right now the front is weakening slightly although it is due to hit Adelaide tonight at around 7pm. There is a Severe Weather Warning current for SA and alpine VIC leading to a very awkward next 24 hours for the southeast. Conditions are thankfully easing about WA though, still severe about the Eucla.
