There's a warning for motorists to use caution on flooded roads on the New South Wales far south coast.

A motorist was rescued this morning on the Bega to Tathra Road after his car became marooned in rising flood water.

And another driver was fined four hundred dollars for negligent driving when he became stuck on the flooded Tathra to Bermagui Road.

The State Emergency Service deputy Commission, Greg Newton, said flooded roads were no place for vehicles regardless of their size.

''As the water deepens and the pace of the water picks up we see the crossings become damaged, Culverts can be torn out,'' Mr Newton said.

''There's quite a record of concrete crossings or culverts being torn out on the Internet.

''You see plenty of pictures of roads collapsing just after people drive through them.''
