The New South Wales State Emergency Service (SES) is urging people affected by adverse weather to be patient, with further strong winds expected today.
The SES received around 170 calls for assistance yesterday, with gale-force winds causing some roof damage as well as trees falling onto power lines.
SES spokesman Phil Campbell says while most of these problems have been fixed, people may still have to wait.
"We have cleared the majority of requests for assistance," he said.
"We are expecting that with further gale force winds forecast, there will be further requests for assistance required, and are asking people to be patient."
Senior Weather Bureau forecaster Neil Fraser says the winds will cover an extensive area.
"From the mid-north coast, as far north as the north-west slopes and plains right down through the inland," he said.
"Depends how the low travels, but things should ease off in western areas by about the afternoon but along the coast it will continue to gale force right through to the evening."
The SES says one woman had a lucky escape when a tree fell on her car yesterday at the Dorrigo show on the state's mid-north coast.
The SES received 170 calls for assistance.
