A low pressure system and associated trough have brought widespread rainfalls across South Australia overnight, with some areas topping up their monthly totals not seen in five years. Parafield, just north of Adelaide, received 16mm overnight bringing their monthly total to 80.4mm and making it the heaviest rain so far this month and wettest July since 2009. However, Adelaide did pick up slightly more than Parafield at 16.2mm but did not produce quite the record. It did, however, bring its monthly total to 87.4mm, now exceeding the monthly average of 76.9mm. Other notable falls around the state which brought monthly totals well above average include: Mount Lofty (27mm), Meninigie (11mm), Murray Bridge airport (10mm), Minnipa (11.8mm) and Cummins (14mm). A high pressure system will slowly move in behind the low and trough, although another trough forming on the western side of the low will trigger a few light showers and the odd storm about the south tomorrow. On Saturday, the high should establish itself bringing mostly sunny and dry conditions across the state for the weekend.
