Riverina awash
Martin Palmer

The Riverina, in New South Wales, is awash as lines of storms rip through.
As with much of Victoria and parts of South Australia, western New South Wales is being inundated by severe storms.
The storms activity has been running quietly for the last couple of days, although Sunday has been the biggest day of all.
Storms have been firing all night and many have been harbouring the potential to deliver devastating amounts of rainfall and huge wind gusts. During Sunday morning the storms really got into swing and lines of storms began filing south.
Into the afternoon and the electric show was sparking from the Upper Western down to the ACT. The Riverina is being hit the hardest, a refreshing change, with the region missing much of the 'big' rain of the summer.
So far:
- Massive rain rates of 18mm are being recorded at Deniliquin.
- Deniliquin took their monthly mean in just one hour (30mm).
- Hillston has surpassed 44mm, their best rain in two years.
- Wagga Wagga has hit 63mm since 9am, their highest in at least four years and likely to surpass 67mm, making it 18 years.
Gusts have been reaching up to around 80km/h and so far there have been no reports of large hail.
