Relentless showers in the east
Josh Fisher

Persistent showers are being driven over parts of eastern Queensland and New South Wales. Some of these showers are heavy, leaving some areas soaked after days of rain.
The showers are the product of a strong high sitting over the Tasman, which is directing moist easterly winds over the east. The moisture is being fed deep through the atmosphere, producing great potential for heavy showers.
Hardest hit today has been the northeast tropical coast of Queensland, where as much as 80mm of rain has been received in some locations. Innisfail has picked up 68mm so far today, their best rain in six months and five years for November.
Cairns has also been drenched, with falls as high as 13mm in just a ten minute period. So far today the area has seen 57mm, making it their best November rain in eight years.
In New South Wales, the Hunter and Mid North Coast have seen the highest amounts with generally around 30 to 50mm. Near Newcastle, Williamtown has picked up another 48mm so far today and their best November rain in 11 years.
After receiving their heaviest 24 hour falls in decades the other day, Coffs Harbour is ready for some relief, unfortunately today has brought another 32mm.
