Melbourne's record run of warm weather has continued.

It has now been 102 days since the temperature fell below 20 degrees Celsius in the city, back on December the 8th.

The weather bureau's Phil King says some cool weather is forecast, but it will not be cool enough to end the record-breaking spell.

"[The] previous record was 78, and it looks like it's going to continue," he said.

"So we're not forecasting the temperature to go below 20 in the forecast period just yet."

He says we have not had the cold fronts move across the state as usual and that has meant a complete absence of cooler conditions.

"The last month or so the temperatures haven't been reaching extreme levels and we just haven't had that flushing change of a real strong cold change move up and clear the state completely of the warmer conditions," he said.
