Following a relatively dry month with rainfall days few and far apart, Perth looks to receive some respectable rainfall before the end of September. So far this month only about 25mm has fallen, making up less than 30% of the long-term average rainfall value of 87.2mm. A series of cold fronts and troughs between late Tuesday and Saturday is expected to deliver 10 to 20mm of rainfall to large parts of the city, with more rainfall on the cards during the following week. Although this rain will represent a significant departure from recent dryer conditions, its unlikely that the city will reach its long-term average this month. This is continuing along a trend of below-average September rainfall experienced since 2014. The last sustained period of above-average September rainfall was between 2011 and 2013, culminating in a whopping 144.2mm during September 2013. Looking at coming months, it remains quite likely that Perth will receive well below-average rainfall until November.
