Rain Returning to Eastern QLD

Josh Fisher
It is expected to be a wet first half of the week for much of eastern QLD, especially for coastal regions. A series of troughs will move through QLD for the early part of the week, with the first currently deepening over western parts of the state. Around mid-week a low is expected to form off the Queensland coast. With this low, there are expected to be strong winds and heavy rainfalls extending along the entire QLD coast. Through the duration of this week central parts of the state, including Mackay, Rockhampton and Moranbah could see rainfall amounts exceeding 90mm. Brisbane could receive as much as 60mm of rain, after what has already been a soaking month. So far this month 56mm of rain has been recorded at Brisbane airport, which makes it its wettest month of July since 1999. With still 11 days remaining in July, it is possible that record could be broken.
