Rain heading for northern NSW
Parts of the Upper Western, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands will finally see some rain this week.
It has been a very dry July so far for Northern NSW, with most parts of the the Northwest Slopes and Plains yet to record any significant rain so far this month. This has been echoed in neighboring districts of the Upper Western and the Northern Tablelands.
For some northern NSW towns, such as Moree and Walgett it has been at least three weeks in between rain drops.
A low pressure trough will develop, sweeping through eastern parts of Upper Western from Monday evening into Tuesday. This trough will continue east on Wednesday, moving over the North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands bringing with it around 10mm of rain. For most locations this represents approximately a third of July's monthly rainfall.
As the trough moves offshore on late on Wednesday, a high pressure ridge will build behind it. This brings a return to dry and cool conditions.
