QLD's storm season in full swing

QLD's storm season in full swing
Thunderstorms have flared up again over Queensland, with stormy skies likely to be a daily occurrence over the next week. Yesterday storms fired up around the southern inland districts. A storm the rolled over Roma bringing with it an 80km/h burst of wind last night, although less than six millimetres hit the bucket. Elsewhere, falls were generally in the range of 10-20mm across the storm front. As of Friday evening, storms have exploded throughout QLD, with a line of storms stretching over 1800km across the state. There is a warning that these storms may be severe across many districts, particularly around Southeast QLD. Hail with a five cm diameter has been recorded at Kingaroy this afternoon. Storms are likely to be a regular feature throughout QLD for most of this week, especially around the southeast. This run of stormy activity is due to a near-stationary low pressure trough which is being fueled by moist onshore winds. This type of setup is common throughout spring and summer. With these stormy days becoming a daily occurrence this week - it is important to know what to do. It is advised that you move your car under cover if a storm is nearby, secure loose outdoor items, never walk or drive through flood waters, seek shelter during a storm but never under a tree, watch for fallen power lines and keep pets indoors.
