Pockets of good rain for inland NSW

Brett Dutschke
Heavy thunderstorms have released decent rain over parts of inland New South Wales, the heaviest this year for some southern and central-western towns. One of the wettest places was Crookwell on the Southern Tablelands where 46 millimetres fell overnight, their highest 24-hour total in 16 months and highest October total in nine years. Nearby Taralga gained 39mm and Goulburn 26mm, both 11 month highs. Crookwell, Taralga and Goulburn have now all had more than the October average rainfall so far this month. The main storm area has now moved to central and northern parts of NSW where Dubbo got in the way of two storms which brought 25mm in total. Tamworth has had 24mm, 20mm of which fell in under an hour. Storms have the potential to bring brief heavy falls of 20 to 40mm, damaging winds and large hail and some will reach the coast later today and tonight before clearing tomorrow.
