After a week of hot and sunny days, Perth's run has come to an end. It has been an extraordinarily hot week at Perth, with the past seven days recording well above-average temperatures. With the week averaging a maximum of 31.6 degrees it became the hottest October week in 120 years of records. The long-term average for Perth during October is 23 degrees, with the warmest day (Monday) ten degrees above-average. This week exceeded the previous record for the hottest October week which was set back in 2008, with the average maximum of 30.3 degrees. A cold front moved over Perth at lunchtime yesterday, causing the temperature to drop from from 31 degrees to 25 degrees in the space of half an hour. Today the city will struggle to reach the low-twenties under cloudy and showery skies. After such an extended dry period, these showers are creating very slippery conditions on the roads. On Thursday, patchy cloud will hang around but skies will become sunnier towards the afternoon. For those that crave the heat, temperatures will quickly rise once again, reaching the high-20's on Saturday. A light afternoon sea breeze will bring some cooling during the afternoon. On Sunday, temperatures will return back to average as the winds tend onshore for most of the day.
