Parts of NT sweat through hottest day in months

Rosebud Lambert
The heat has been building in the northern interior of the Territory for the past few days with the mercury soaring past forty degrees today. The Victoria River region could easily have thought summer arrived early. Bradshaw only rose four degrees above but that was enough to deliver the hottest day since December. Victoria River Downs sweltered through their hottest September day in ten years. Tennant Creek also suffered through a hot day reaching 37 degrees, 6 above average. Daly Waters approached 40 degrees, with a maximum of 39, the warmest day since the start of last summer. The heat across the interior follows several days of warm temperatures across the Top End. Northerly winds with the arrival of a trough today allowed the heat to move further south, bringing the hot day. A cooler southwesterly change is now moving through the central interior and should allow a cooler day tomorrow.
