One month of rain leaves central-western QLD under water

Brett Dutschke
Parts of central-western Queensland are under water as a month's worth of rain fell in only half-a-day, according to weatherzone.com.au. Some locations are seeing their heaviest rain in over a decade leading to moderate flooding and has leaving some properties isolated. Blackall, southeast of Longreach received 120 millimetres in just 12 hours making it their highest daily rainfall in 14 years. Rain is easing over the region as the low pressure system responsible takes the heaviest rain south of Charleville and into northern New South Wales where over 50mm has fallen. Much of southern Queensland and northern NSW are likely to experience their highest rainfall in several months over the next few days as high amounts of moisture feed into a lingering trough of low pressure. The Bourke area is a chance to gain their highest rainfall in seven years.
