NSW getting ready for a soaking

NSW getting ready for a soaking
Widespread rain is starting to move into NSW, helping farmers in some of the driest areas. A slow moving rainband will cause rain to develop in southwestern NSW today before spreading across the rest of the south tomorrow. On Saturday the offending trough will stretch from the northwest to the southeast, before moving east on Sunday with dry air behind it. By the end of the week the region bounded by the Victorian border, Canberra and Broken Hill is likely to receive falls between 30-50mm. Even as far north as Tibooburra there should be around 10mm. Unfortunately for the region around Hungerford, rain totals should only be a few millimitres. Next week, the trough will linger near the coast, with an east coast low likely to form and produce heavy falls along the coast. The almost bone-dry town of Walgett is likely to get a good drink with the trough. We are likely to see 20-40mm in that region, helping the notoriously low dam levels. The wettest areas in the next seven days are likely to be in the Hunter and Mid North Coast, where totals above 100mm will be commonplace. From Sunday to Wednesday (and possibly Thursday) this region will barely see the sun as cloud and rain take hold for the majority of that period.
