NSW braces for wintry blast

Thursday August 9, 2012 - 13:55 EST

Snow is forecast for parts of the New South Wales central and southern tablelands tonight as a cold front spreads across the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology says strong winds and snow showers are likely down to 700m this evening and possibly tomorrow.

Temperatures at Orange, Bathurst and Dubbo are expected to remain a few degrees below average.

Forecaster Nick Bright says many of those areas can expect snow.

"Places like Oberon, Sunny Corner, maybe Orange and even Katoomba [have] a slight chance of snow," Mr Bright said.
