Northern NSW and QLD inundated by flood waters

Parts of northern New South Wales and Queensland are experiencing major flooding, the aftermath of last week's heavy rain.
Though the rainfall has cleared from the region, flood waters are still rising through many areas west of the Great Diving Range. The inundation is the result of heavy rain that delivered 150-250mm over a wide area of inland QLD and NSW.
In New South Wales, Narrabri had received 317mm of rain in seven days, while further north in Queensland, Mitchell received more than 250mm of rain. This heavy rain cleared ahead of the weekend, but the affects are still being felt.
Major flooding is threatening many areas through the Northwest Slopes and Plains and Upper Western districts of NSW. In Queensland, widespread flooding is affecting the Maranoa and Warrego, Central West and parts of the Darling Downs and Central Highlands districts.
The Balonne River at St George had risen to 13.48 metres this morning, which exceeds the previous record flood level of 13.4 metres set in March of 2010. Flood levels are still rising in St George and are expected to peak above 14 metres on Tuesday.
