North East Victoria to get soaked
Today and across the weekend rain will drench Victoria's North East before cool dry air drops in.
A pair of troughs and a cold front will cross Victoria today and over the weekend, bringing areas of rain, showers and thunderstorms. There will at least be a touch of rain across the entire state, but the ranges in the North East district will get more than its fair share.
The North East will see areas of rain today, then showers and the odd storm on both Saturday and Sunday. The wettest days will be today and Sunday. The event will provide widespread totals of about 60-100mm, except for lighter falls on the eastern side of the ranges, such as in Omeo.
Central parts of Victoria should see 10-20mm widespread, with some isolated heavier falls in the north.
The smallest rain totals for Victoria will be in the Mallee and in East Gippsland, where totals will be closer to only 5mm.
During Sunday showers will mostly clear as a final cold front crosses the state, bringing much drier air in its wake. This will then lead to one of the coolest mornings of the season. On Monday morning we should see frost develop across much of the North East.
