North-east Victoria soaks up rain

Tuesday July 1, 2008 - 13:40 EST

There have been some significant rainfall in north-east Victoria, the highest total being at Bright with 36 millimetres.

Cheshunt has received 32mm, Archerton, 29mm, Edi Upper 27mm, Strathbogie 24mm and Lake Eildon 12mm.

There was much less rain in southern New South Wales - Albury received nearly 7mm, Corowa 5mm and Tocumwal 3mm.

Bill Sherrick from the weather bureau says there will be some more showers around today.

"Thirty-six millimetres stands out as being particularly good for Bright, although Buller has had 23 and Hotham 9, Albury 6.6, so Falls Creek 20.4 at this moment," he said.

"Anyway the rain band is still active, but really it's most concentrated on and south of the ranges."
