More hot weather for SA and Southeast

Paddy Aicken, Tuesday November 11, 2008 - 20:06 EDT

After a sweltering day with temperatures up more than 12 degrees above average across Australia's southern coastline, more hot days are on the way.

Across South Australia tomorrow temperatures are forecast to be up to 13 degrees above average. Ceduna in the states west is forecast to reach 39 degrees tomorrow, 13.1 above average. Port Lincoln should reach 36 degrees, 13.3 above average.

In Victoria temperatures are set to be up to ten degrees above average for the next two days. Mildura is set to reach 35, eight degrees above average, while Sale in the the states southeast is forecast to reach 31 degrees on Thursday, ten degrees above the November average.

The hot temperatures are a result of a deep trough and heat low over which has been driving hot dry winds south from the red centre. Towards the weekend this trough system is forecast to push east, raising temperatures though out NSW and QLD.

Behind the trough cooler southerly winds are set to bring a cool and damp weekend through out the southeast.
