The State Emergency Service (SES) is keeping watch on the Hunter River, with minor flooding expected to occur in low lying areas around Maitland this morning.
The river is due to peak around six metres at the Belmore bridge this morning, causing some inundation of low lying rural properties and roads.
The river reached a peak of more than seven metres overnight at Singleton.
SES deputy controller Ken Speer says farmers in the affected areas have been told to move stock and equipment.
"We've reissued an equipment and livestock warning for the Hunter River below Muswellbrook as the result of water coming in there from the Wollombi, Jerry's Plains area and Goulburn River," he said.
"Some rural areas will be inundated along the Hunter River and a few roads closed, but other than that there'll be no major impact in the Maitland area."
