Melbourne has picked up almost half its July average rainfall over the last three days, with more on the way.
The passing of a complex low pressure system has brought 22.6mm of rain to the city over the last 3 days to 9am Saturday morning, just under half the average July total of 47.5mm. Melbourne has now recorded 52mm for the month to date.
A cold front will pass over Victoria today bringing more showers. Since 9am this morning just under 1mm has already fallen. The showers will continue into Sunday with up to 10mm possible by the end of the weekend. Sunday is going to be particularly unpleasant with chilly southerly winds and daytime temperatures expected remain below 12 degrees for most of the day.
Looking into next week, showers will continue on and off on Monday and Tuesday before clearing on Wednesday. Winds will also become light on Wednesday. Thursday will be the sunniest day of the weak before the next front approaches on Friday.
