May turning into a wet one for Alice Springs
Kim Westcott

With 28mm already recorded in the rain gauge this month, Alice Springs is having its wettest May since 2004. However, there is still some more rain on the way.
A deepening trough in Western Australia will move eastward over the country, reaching the Territory on Monday bringing widespread falls of 10-20mm, while residents near the southwest border may see heavier falls to around 50mm.
On Tuesday, the rain band will spread further east bringing scattered falls of 20-50mm to the western Alice Springs District, with places near the western border tipped to see the heaviest falls of 50-100mm. The two day downburst may see flooding in some areas within the district.
Drizzle will follow on Wednesday bringing back the cool daytime temperatures that have been a feature for the past week, but at least the sun should be making an appearance on Thursday.
