Inland SA cops a soaking
A thick northwest cloudband has brought the best rain in over a year to parts of inland South Australia.
The cloudband, which has been stretching from the Western Australia Pilbara through to eastern New South Wales, has brought soaking rain across the last 24 hours.
Marla in the SA's northwest recorded 20mm to 9am, its heaviest rain in over a year and more than its monthly average. Oodnadatta and Ernabella picked up 5mm, the best rain since January and April.
Rain is set to continue today and tomorrow morning over the north of the state, bringing further falls of around 10mm before clearing by the afternoon as a high pressure system moves in.
Northwest cloudbands are not uncommon at this time of year, however they are more frequent when the Indian Ocean is warmer than usual, as it is presently.
