High winds hit Eurobodalla

Friday June 22, 2012 - 11:38 EST

The State Emergency Service is warning people in the Eurobodalla on the New South Wales far south coast to batten down today with strong winds expected to increase in intensity.

The Weather Bureau has issued a damaging wind warning for the area between Batemans Bay and Ulladulla with gusts expected to reach 90kph.

The wind has already bought down trees at Lilli Pilli, Broulee and on the Princess Highway at Termeil.

Erin Pogmore from the SES says it has been a busy night and the situation could worsen.

â??We are expecting we should be getting further calls during the day if those wind speeds do pick up so we are asking people to start preparing their properties now,â?? she said.

â??We are asking that people bring any lose items indoors and secure anything that can become a potential missile while those winds do pick up.

â??Also when the winds do hit be mindful where you park your car and bring children and pets indoors.â??
