Heavy rain sets in over southeast QLD

Sam Terry
The rain continues for eastern Australia with more storms, rain and showers on their way, according to weatherzone.com.au. Yesterday, the rain bucketed down across southeast QLD and northern NSW, with the heaviest falls picked up over the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Many towns in the area received over and above 50mm, with Nerang and Hinze Dam picking up 54mm, and Southport 73mm. The Gold Coast itself picked up 64mm, the heaviest rain in 17 months, and for four years for November. Brisbane CBD also joined in, awash with over 77mm of rain to 9am. This was the heaviest falls four over four and half years, and the wettest November day in at least eight years for November. This evening again looks to bring significant totals, with the possibility of another 30mm tonight, with thundery falls. Storms have the potential for damaging wind gusts, flash flooding and even large hail, but hopefully will not be a repeat for Sunday's havoc.
