Northern Tasmanian regions received another drenching, topping up on what is already a wet July for many locations. In 10 hours, Iris River gained an impressive 39mm by 7pm Sunday, with nearby Sheffield Farm recording 35mm, making it only 10mm shy of the July rainfall average. Further east, Mount Arthur saw 28mm and Scottsdale captured 25mm in the rain gauge. Luncheon Hill recorded an extra 25mm as of since 9am Sunday, which has allowed it to exceed July's average rainfall. The heavy rain has prompted a flood watch for all northern river basins, with locally heavy rain expected to continue into tonight, with another 15-25mm anticipated in the central and northeastern regions. Further ahead, the trough will continue east, allowing the rain to ease to showers on Monday. There will be a few days of reprieve for residents before the next rain bearing system edges its way into the state on Thursday.
