Heavy rain along the NSW coast

Heavy rain along the NSW coast
Rain has swamped the New South Wales South Coast yet again, with two-day totals now over 100 millimetres for many locations, according to weatherzone.com.au. A trough has been funnelling in rain and storms over the region, intensified by cold air aloft. This has caused a Severe Weather Warning to be issued for the Sydney Metro, Illawarra, South Coast and eastern Southern Tablelands districts due to localised flooding. To 9am this morning Plumwood (southwest of Moruya) recorded 145 mm, their wettest May day on record. Bodalla was awash with 102 mm, the wettest May day in 32 years. Other locations to pick up more than 100 mm include Nimmitabel, Broga, Eurobodalla, Porters Creek and Belowra. The area of rain is now centred over the Sydney Basin, and heavy falls are expected during the day. Already Sydney has picked up 10 mm, with plenty more on the way. Most suburbs should receive between 30 to 50 millimetres, with potential for even heavier falls in the north. Falls should start to ease into the evening, but the State of Origin is still set to be fairly wet. Anyone travelling anywhere is advised to take an umbrella, or better yet, a wet suit.
