Gusty southerly change cooling the NSW coast

Gusty southerly change cooling the NSW coast
After a stunning weekend of sunny skies and pleasant temperatures along the NSW coast, a gusty southerly change is bringing a cooler spell of weather to start off the working week. The change has been rapidly spreading up the coast today, already moving through southern and central parts of the coast before sunrise and will reach the state's northeast this afternoon. Southerly wind gusts with the change have been strong in parts, reaching 87km/h at Montague Island, 93km/h at Wattamolla and 80km/h at Sydney Airport. For the central and southern coastline, today will be a stark contrast from yesterday which saw temperatures reach the mid 20s. Under cloudier skies and the risk of showers, it is only expected to reach 20 degrees in Newcastle, 21 degrees in Sydney and 17 degrees in Batemans Bay. Wind chill will make it feel 2-3 degrees colder than the actual temperature, making jumpers commonplace. Since the change will arrive later in the day over the state's north coast, it will still manage to get warm. Daytime temperatures will push into the mid-to-high 20s before significant cooling with the passage of the change. Cooler temperatures and cloudy skies will linger into Tuesday, reaching similar temperatures to those seen today, although winds will ease taking the chill out of the air. A broad trough will begin to direct northerly winds into the region from Wednesday, with a spell of sunnier and warmer weather likely to persist into the weekend.
