Good rains expected for NSW

Sam Terry
After one of the driest Augusts in years, with most of NSW receiving less than 40 percent of the average monthly rainfall, good news is on its way in the form of rain, according to weatherzone.com.au. A trough and front passed through New South Wales last week, delivering less than it promised, especially to the western slopes and plains. Another trough is set to pass through the state tomorrow, again promising good falls by the weekend. Initially, as rain develops from early afternoon, totals will be less than 5 millimetres widespread. However, on Friday the trough will stall, delivering 10 millimetres to most of the ranges. There will be even heavier falls over the Northwest Slopes, Central Tablelands and Sydney. Some local falls may even reach up to 50 millimetres. Unfortunately, due to the lack of rainfall in August, this may cause come rivers to flood.
