Gippsland rail line repairs to take months

Wednesday August 29, 2012 - 09:55 EST

V/Line engineers are still working out how to repair a water-damaged section of the Gippsland train line.

The line was closed earlier this month when a driver noticed the foundations of a section of the track between Moe and Morwell had washed away.

V/Line is warning it could up to two months until trains are running east of Moe again.

V/Line spokesman James Kelly says repair crews have not been able to begin building a temporary dam to drain water away from the damaged track.

"There is still a lot of planning and surveying work that is still taking place and we still have the significant problem of actually getting access," he said.
