Frost has arrived late this season in parts of southeastern Australia, as much as two months late, according to weatherzone.com.au.
Deniliquin, Hay and, Tocumwal in southern New South Wales, Echuca, Nhill and Edenhope in northern and western Victoria and Padthaway in southeastern South Australia have finally recorded sub-zero temperatures.
In an average year Deniliquin would have its first frost in May and about 14 by the end of July. Yesterday was their first for 2008.
Extra cloud, wind and humidity have delayed this year's onset by about two months.
The next few nights and mornings will be particularly frosty in southern NSW, Victoria and Tasmania. Frost is less likely on the weekend due to an increase in cloud and wind and the arrival of showers.
A Frost Warning has been issued for much of Victoria. By eight o'clock this evening Rutherglen had already chilled to 1.4 degrees.
