Fresh dusting of snow to the southeast

Fresh dusting of snow to the southeast
A cold front has brought snow to the Alps of New South Wales, priming a good weekend to hit the snow fields. After a poor start to the New South Wales ski season, a fluffy ten centimeters was reported falling at the peak of Thredbo, with around five centimeter depths recorded around Perisher. A total of about eight centimeters dropped across the day in Charlotte Pass. Victoria got ten centimeters at Falls Creek and five centimeters at Lake Mountain as well as few centimeters reported across Mt Buffalo. Most of the snow will stop overnight and winds will ease. Additionally, temperatures look to plummet to below -5 degrees across the ranges of both Victoria and New South Wales, creating ideal conditions for snow making. The next chance of snowfall within the next seven days is late on Monday and into Tuesday, but falls should be confined to the highest peaks. Looking further ahead, a longwave trough should move over southeast Australia late next week, resulting in persistent cold fronts. This will cause cold, moisture bearing air-masses to flow across the New South Wales and Victorian Alps.
