Boy dies in hospital after being struck by falling tree
Tuesday January 29, 2013 - 09:41 EDT
A three-year-old boy has died in hospital after being hit by a falling tree while standing on the edge of a flooded creek in Brisbane.
The boy and his pregnant mother were looking at flooding in Kedron Brook in Gordon Park when the large tree fell about 8:30am (AEST).
Police say the boy had head injuries and the woman a broken leg.
Tim Burke witnessed the unfolding drama.
"The ground was so wet the large tree's just fallen on top of them," Mr Burke said.
"They got the little boy out but the mother was still trapped in there."
