Dusty days for NSW and QLD

Josh Fisher
Westerly winds are whipping up the dust over interior parts of New South Wales and Queensland. Visibilities were at their worst on Tuesday but are still being hindered today. Yesterday the worst hit was the Upper Western of NSW where wild winds brought severe dust storms. White Cliffs saw their strongest gust in three months at 80km/h, whipping up the dust with visibility falling to 100 metre. Further east conditions were not as severe with Cobar seeing the visibility fall to 1600 metres. Queensland was also seeing severe dust storms over the Channel Country. Winds were not quite as gusty as NSW but the visibilities were still being lowered to around 500 metres in Windorah. The dust has settled some today but some areas are still seeing the dust. Windorah still saw the dust reducing visibility as low as 500 metres. In New South Wales, dust and smoke are mixing to create a noticeable haze over the tablelands. Katoomba is seeing visibility fall below two kilometres.
