Dry times for western Victoria

Tuesday October 14, 2008 - 08:41 EDT

The figures show western and central Victoria are now going through a 12th year of below average rainfall.

The National Climate Centre's Andrew Watkins says the past dozen years have been drier than any other 12-year period for several Wimmera-Mallee centres.

"In the north-west there, Mildura, Nhill, Horsham, they all have their record low 12-year rainfall total. They're not just creeping past the old record, but they're 3 to 4 per cent below the previous record that'd been set," he said.
