Downpour closes Alice causeways

Wednesday November 19, 2008 - 11:43 EDT

All causeways in Alice Springs have been closed after heavy rains yesterday and throughout the night.

The Taffy Pick crossing has also been closed and police have opened the power station road to allow traffic from the golf course to drive across town.

Police are advising motorists to take care on the roads because of debris and potential surface damage.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting more showers or gusty storms in Alice Springs this afternoon.
