Comfortable change for parts of the east

Josh Fisher
A trough blew through parts of New South Wales, allowing for much more comfortable temperatures to extend into the state. The heat has contracted further north, still sweltering in Queensland. As the trough ripped through the state it brought a gusty southerly change with a few storms. Forbes saw a gust of 82km/h before reaching Sydney which saw winds blow to 74km/h. These winds brought dangerous conditions where fires were already burning. The sudden change whipped the fires around with gusts to 82km/h in Bathurst and only light showers. The good news was the cooler temperatures today. Some areas dropped as much as 10 to 15 degrees below what they saw yesterday. Wyalong remained at 26 degrees today, down from 38 yesterday and around Sydney, Penrith stayed 12 degrees below their 40 degrees day. The heat hasn't gone far though, now pushing over northern NSW and QLD. As the hot northwesterlies stream in, southern and western parts of Queensland are seeing the mercury push 40 degrees again. The dry winds and hot temperatures are causing dangerous conditions, with fires still burning. These conditions are not looking to ease until Friday with a stronger change.
