Perth has shivered through its coldest morning of the year.

The temperature dipped to 1.2 degrees just after 6:30am.

That is the lowest since July 2010.

The duty forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology says the cold mornings are due to a high pressure system inland with light winds and clear skies.

Several towns were colder overnight.

Lake King fell to -3.5 degrees; Cunderdin and Newdegate to -2.7 degrees; Wandering -2.1 degrees; Dwellingup -1.1 degrees; Salmon Gums -0.7 degrees; and Lake Grace -0.4 degrees.

The duty forecaster says Perth can expect another sunny day and cold morning tomorrow but it should warm up by Saturday.
