Cold nights across New South Wales
Last night, as high pressure system was slowly tracked over the state, winds became light and skies clear. Along with a cool and dry airmass, temperatures plummeted when the sun disappeared into the horizon.
Cooma and Goulburn both had their coldest May night since 1999, while it was Cooma's coldest night overall since August last year. This temperature recorded in Cooma was more than 9 degress below their May average.
Residents in the Central West Slopes and Plains also shivered through a bracing night. Forbes, Temora, Cowra and Condoblin all experienced temperatures that were at least 5 degrees below the May average.
In fact, except the for northern parts of New South Wales, a significant amount of the state recorded minimum temperatures below their May average.
Cold mornings are looking to persist a few more days before a front brings thick cloud around Wednesday. As winter looms near, chilly mornings will become more frequent.
