A cold change is sweeping through New South Wales today and it can be seen like never before on the new Weatherzone homepage. A front and trough is moving through northeastern NSW today, bringing showers, a few thunderstorms and cooler southwesterly winds. The system crossed through Sydney this morning, but the strongest winds are yet to come. A low pressure system is developing in the Tasman Sea today and is already producing gusty winds and rain in Victoria. As this low intensifies and travels north along the NSW coast it will produce powerful winds and plenty of showers. This low has prompted a severe weather warning for the coastal fringe of the Illawarra, Sydney, Hunter and Mid North Coast. Wind gusts are could reach 100km/h tonight or on Wednesday morning due to the strong pressure difference between the low offshore and the high over the mainland. Meanwhile, in Queensland, warm northwesterly winds are spreading into the southeast of the state ahead of the front and trough. The gusty and dry nature of these winds have sparked a fire weather warning for the Southeast Coast district. Brisbane is likely to see its warmest day since April, with a forecast maximum of 29 degrees, making many Australians further south a bit jealous.
