Chilly start in Victoria

Chilly start in Victoria
Melbourne just had its coldest morning in 11 months and parts of Victoria saw their first frost of the season. While summer has seemed to hang on a little longer than usual in southern Australia this year, this morning was unmistakably autumnal in Victoria. Mostly clear skies underneath a high pressure system combined with a cool air mass and light winds overnight, causing temperatures to plunge. Parts of central and eastern Victoria registered their lowest temperature since last September this morning, including Melbourne, which reached a low of 6.2 degrees just before 7am. Other locations that had their coldest morning in seven months included Coldstream (0.5C), Essendon (3.2C) and East Sale (2.5C). Daytime temperatures will be near to slightly above the April average across most of Victoria today and overnight minimums will increase from tomorrow was warmer air moves back over the state.
